Consumers Energy’s Clean Energy Plan sets a course for the Company to meet customers’ long-term energy needs as a lean and green utility committed to a triple bottom line of people, planet, and prosperity. In the Clean Energy Plan, demand reduction, including Energy Waste Reduction (EWR), takes on a critical role in meeting our residential and business customers’ energy and capacity needs.
The Business EWR team has been successfully helping our customers with their energy needs for over 10 years. We collaborate daily with our internal and external partners to deliver our comprehensive portfolio of programs – with a focus to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES
The EWR Business Lead will join a growing team, under the EWR Business portfolio. This posting is for one position that will have oversight of the Small/Medium Business bundle within the portfolio.
This position is within the Corporate Account Manager career path. It will play a highly visible role representing the Company at Statewide Collaboratives, MPSC meetings, internal leadership meetings - and is responsible for oversight of a bundled group of energy efficiency programs. In addition, this role will develop collaborative relationships within the Customer Experience organization including leadership and other stakeholders.
The Lead will manage large projects in a rapidly changing environment and pivot quickly between design challenges, implementation, and market conditions. This position requires excellent planning, budgeting, and people-management skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead team to plan, design, implement and market a bundle of energy efficiency programs to achieve challenging energy savings targets
Foster internal and external positive relationships and demonstrate the Consumers Energy Culture Mindset Values (Caring, Empowered, Deliberate, Agility and Ownership)
Develop, nurture and maintain strong working relationships with implementation contractors and other industry affiliates/stakeholders
Develop strong affinity with key internal departments
Lead and inspire a dynamic team to achieve and accomplish challenging goals
Engage with cross-functional teams to support special initiatives and day-to-day running of the business
Support regulatory requirements, sponsor testimony and act as a witness in EWR case proceedings
Deliver successful energy efficiency program bundle cost effectively within multi-million-dollar investment targets
Develop and deliver visual management that includes daily, weekly and monthly operating reviews of bundle deliverables
Continuously assesses project progress to goal and develops innovative and creative solutions to new issues and/or market dynamics.
Lead future RFP process and contract negotiations
Monitor and ensure all contract requirements with Implementation Contractor are met
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICIATIONS
A Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in business, energy, marketing, engineering or related field of study required; a Masters degree in a related field preferred
A minimum of 8+ years’ experience in energy-efficiency or a related field required
Supervisory experience required as this role will oversee the selection, development, coaching and evaluation of a team to deliver results
Proven success in developing and implementing project scopes, budgets and plans
Change agent, active team member with collaborative spirit; demonstrated building positive relationships, inspire others to live the Consumers Energy Culture Mindset Values
Previous contract development and negotiation experience
Must have strong customer service background and passion for serving customers. Demonstrate an overall understanding of what it means to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
Problem-solving skills and strong interpersonal communications skills
Proficient skills with Microsoft Office Suite, strong technical skills The following skills and experience will set you apart from others:
Knowledge of CE Way and Business Plan Deployment with experience implementing it
An entrepreneurial mindset and passion for innovation; ability to tactfully challenge the status quo
Background in energy efficiency and managing/leading projects is a plus
Possess an in-depth knowledge and demonstrated ability to provide first-time quality
Experience with analyzing data; experience with problem solving tools
LOCATION
During this time of uncertainty, we are committed to ensuring the safety and health of our communities and co-workers. This role based out of Jackson, MI, will be work-from-home until our leadership team has determined it’s safe to resume work in the office. Permanent working remote options may be possible with approval from your supervisor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Corporate Account Managers serve as the primary business contact for the client and is responsible for client satisfaction. Expected to consistently provide excellent customer service to accounts, as well as represent client needs and goals within the Company to ensure quality. In addition, should build relationships with clients to encourage new and repeat business opportunities. Responsible for all client communications, conflict resolution, and compliance on client deliverables and revenue. Reviews all major deliverables to ensure quality standards and client expectations are met. Ensures that client issues are dealt with in an efficient manner, informing the management of any problems that may arise. Works closely with the project team in order to maintain a continuous knowledge of project status in order to identify potential issues and/or opportunities within or related to the project. Ensures that all processes and procedures are completed, quality standards are met. Aware and in pursuit of opportunities for account growth and new business. Communicates the client's goals and represent the client's interests to the Company. Provides regular two-way communication between the client and Company, to provide strong representation and set proper client expectations. Understanding of company capabilities and service, and effectively communicates all offerings to the client. Provides regular input on all account activity, including status and call reports. Individuals should exemplify safe work practices and follow the Company’s compliance standards. Regular attendance is expected.
