The Electronic Systems Segment (ESS) provides a broad range of aerospace systems, security and detection systems, and pilot training.
L3 Combat Propulsion Systems (CPS) located in Muskegon, MI is a recognized market leader in the engineering, design and manufacture of engines, transmissions, suspension and turret drive systems for combat vehicles, including both tracked and wheeled vehicles. It is also a production center for Abrams tank components and supports both domestic and international vehicle customers, including programs for Singapore and South Korea.
The L3 Combat Propulsion Systems 2019 Summer Engineering Intern will be responsible for the design and development of components and sub-systems of diesel engines, transmissions, and other mechanical systems primarily for military ground vehicles. Projects range in scope from advanced research and development of future products to failure analysis and incremental improvements to existing products. Assignments may also include process improvements. The Product Engineering Intern will be responsible for requirements development, concept design, analysis, detailed design, drawings, hardware procurement, supplier technical support, test planning and execution, and failure analysis.

Candidate enrolled in an accredited 4 year degree program in Mechanical Engineering.
Ability to perform mechanical stress and structural engineering calculations.
Ability to perform thermal fluids and heat transfer calculations.
Ability to manage and organize multiple project tasks to meet established deadlines.
Good written and verbal communications.
Must be willing to travel (domestic and foreign) up to 10%.
Must be able to move freely within the manufacturing and lab environment with reasonable accomodation.
Preferred Skills or Experience:
Demonstrated technical ability through a high GPA (3.0 minimum).
Experience designing and testing mechanical and/or hydro-mechanical systems.
Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
Creo / Pro-E experience.
Engine and engine sub-system design and test experience.
