Electronic Systems (ES) is one of four L3 business segments, and provides a broad range of components, products, subsystems, systems and related services for military and commercial customers. We are searching for a Sr. Test Engineer.

The Test Engineer reports to the Section Manager, Test & Evaluation. Job duties include: Create, set up and conduct laboratory and field tests of newly developed and existing L3 CPS Diesel Engine and Cross-Drive Transmission products. Translate technical guidance received from supervisor and product design and development personnel into methods applicable to product test. Coordinate activities of Design and Development Engineers, Mechanics, and Technicians to conduct tests and gather test data. Work in a hands-on environment where you will evaluate test methods and test results first hand.

Responsibilities Include, but may not be limited to:

  • Derive test requirements for CPS products from product specifications and customer requirements

  • Create and execute Test Plans for Diesel Engines, Cross drive transmissions, and other Powertrain equipment.

  • Maintain and utilize computer software programs for test data acquisition, reduction, plotting and tracking.

  • Write and maintain L3 CPS test procedures and standards.

  • Prepare test documentation and customer presentations.

  • Design and specify test fixtures, test equipment, instrumentation, and control systems for test cell operation including system design, software and sensor selection, panel lay-out and schematic development.

  • Supervise test mechanics & technicians in the installation, operation, and maintenance of test equipment.

  • Introduce new concepts for test engineering.

  • Work closely with internal test customers.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical , Systems, Automotive, Aerospace, or Electrical) with 5-9-years minimum relevant experience or minimum 13 years relevant experience in lieu of degree required.

  • Experience with system control methodologies and technologies and the acquisition of electronic control system data.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of test equipment and methods including data acquisition and instrumentation.

  • Demonstrated laboratory and systems test experience.

  • User Level Experience in one of the following software/hardware systems preferred (LabView, Matlab/Simulink, OPTO 22).

  • Ability to work well with internal and external customers and Government representatives.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • Must be willing to travel (domestic suppliers and vendors).

  • Strong Interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to get security clearance required.

  • Must be able to move freely, with or without accommodation, throughout the manufacturing environment.
