Mechatronics Engineer

Position Summary:

Responsibility for

design, engineering, & development of ZF Chassis mechatronic products. Ensure

new or modified designs can be manufactured & meet all specifications

efficiently. Support internal departments to develop business, handle capacity,

and maintain continuity.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Participate in all stages of product design, development and

documentation (concept through manufacturing) for new and current mechatronic

products through project assignments.

  • Lead regional mechatronic design & development activities with

the customer and internal departments.

  • Maintain existing product designs and support production if

necessary.

  • Coordinate, execute, schedule, and control projects to ensure design,

manufacturability, & cost targets

  • Cooperatively develop design alternatives & recommendations with

customers to resolve any problems.

  • Support design, development and evaluation of components and

materials to achieve design targets.

  • Participate in formulating engineering strategy of product designs

and applications.

  • Assist in the preparation of engineering cost analysis for customer

inquiry and company product.

  • Assist in the preparation of information packages, drawings, prototypes

and product samples to demonstrate ZF technical capability to customers,

suppliers and internal functions.

  • Support sales and marketing with technical assistance including

customer product applications, problem resolution and customer

presentations.

  • Document ideas

for patent protection & provide product information for patent

documentation.

  • Use and recommend

analytical studies of motion, stress, forces and tolerance stack up to

assure product function and reliability

  • Work with CAD

designers to develop 2D/3D designs & package checks through each

project phase

  • Participate in

the assembly of prototypes & help resolve any build issues

  • Initiate change

notices as required and per procedure.

  • Investigate new

technologies and consult with suppliers if necessary to obtain latest

technical information.

  • Participate in benchmarking

activities investigating competitive products and assess any feature

advantages

  • Participate in

qualifying and approving suppliers

  • Participate in any

continuous improvement activities

  • Maintain and

expand professional/technical knowledge by attending appropriate training,

monitoring publications, expanding networks, and participating in

professional societies.

  • Compliance with all Internal and External

Production Quality Management Systems and Group Directives.

  • Perform other duties as

assigned.

Essential

Skills and Experience:

  • B.S. in Engineering,

preferably in Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electronics

  • 3-4 years of relevant experience in a mechatronic

engineering environment (including Co-Op)

  • Excellent project

management and planning abilities

  • Strong problem

solving and analytical skills

  • Strong

interpersonal, communications and listening skills

  • Ability/willingness

to travel both domestically and internationally (up to 25%)

Preferred

Skills and experience:

  • CAD skills are a

plus

  • Experience with Vector

  • Experience with

Green Studio

  • Experience with

vehicle diagnostic tools

  • Experience with

vehicle development

  • Experience with

mechatronic software development

  • Experience with

mechatronic calibration

  • Experience in the

Automotive and/or Electronics industries.

  • German language skills
