Harman Becker Automotive Systems, Inc. seeks Sr. Engineer, Mechanical Customer Lead in Novi, MI.Be a main customer interface and lead mechanical transducer development and integration on assigned new product development projects, through the global design team. Coordinate and lead application/integration of early concept and pre-development activities with customer(s). Create, negotiate, and define scope of mechanical applications with customer(s) and global internal teams. Support customer(s)rsquo; RFQ activities for mechanical integration. Analyze speaker assemblies and their subcomponents as created by global mechanical design team with consideration to: customer requirements, internal requirements, and supplier capabilities; cost and timing to ensure manufacturability, efficiency and quality. Own development dates of project tasks for global mechanical design team on assigned projects. Track compliance, quality, and timeliness of design deliverables and work products throughout the development of customer projects. Develop and create verification and validation plans, including: requirements to confirm the robustness of product designs; create and review DVP Rrsquo;s with customer. Lead the creation of DFMEA/DRBFM with global development team and present/review them with customer(s). Chair internal design reviews with peers and management of new product designs produced by global mechanical design team in accordance to customer project timelines; includes 3d CAD, drawings, simulations, tolerance stack ups, checklists, bill of materials, supplier and internal feasibilities. Ensure that new product designs are compliant to best practice and lessons learned requirements. Maintain PLM/PDM database with accurate transducer information for projects. use, maintain, and improve upon best practices and design standards via the lessons learned process and the knowledge base. Lead and/or support mechanical speaker design related problem solving activities for assigned projects. Prepare technical reports and presentations for customer and/or internal use, as necessary.Requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field plus 5 years of mechanical engineering experience in automotive, electronics, acoustics or related. 5 yearsrsquo; experience in component design: plastic injection molding, metal stamping and die casting. 5 yearsrsquo; experience in designing speakers, electronics and assemblies for automotive or a related field. 5 yearsrsquo; experience in automotive component integration or component integration in a related field. 5 yearsrsquo; tolerance analysis. 5 yearsrsquo; experience in risk mitigation analysis techniques or activities, including DFMEA or similar. 2 yearsrsquo; experience creating and releasing engineering documentation, including one of PPAP, DVP R, APQP or similar. Travel at 15% to support program reviews, training, etc., including some international travel.40 hours/week.
