DNV GL Senior Energy Engineer in Okemos, Michigan

DNV GL – Energy's Sustainable Energy Use Program Design and Implementation group is seeking a Senior Energy Engineer to join our Energy Efficiency Program working in support of Consumers Energy sponsored programs that encourage energy efficiency in commercial and industrial buildings. Ideal candidate requires a unique combination of leadership and analytical skills to become a critical member of the team on day one. This position is based out of our Okemos, MI office.

Tasks May Include

  • Lead, mentor and train a team of junior engineers to become technical experts

  • Lead the creation of and contribute to white papers and thought leadership

  • Independently perform site-specific engineering analysis and evaluation of complex energy efficiency projects

  • Independently perform building energy use analysis and simulations

  • Review and verify energy savings calculations analysis and evaluation of complex energy efficiency projects

  • Perform on-site walkthroughs and energy audits

  • Develop problem solving approaches for complex projects

  • Make recommendations of new measures for internal purposes

  • Complete technical and financial analysis for complex projects

  • Lead and manage studies of technologies and systems

  • Recommend improvements for operations on internal processes

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required, emphasis on energy is preferred

  • PE license required

  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience

  • Over 4 years of leadership, and project management experience

  • Advanced knowledge of lighting standards, energy codes and standards (IECC, ASHRAE, etc.), energy efficiency emerging technologies and controls

  • Familiarity and experience with ISO 50001

  • Experience with energy auditing ASHRAE levels 1, 2 and 3

  • Familiar with tools such as eQuest, Trane Trace and HAP

  • Knowledge of fundamental project management processes, methodologies and tools and techniques and ability to adapt them to this organization

  • Proficient with Microsoft office suite; with advanced skills in Excel

  • Excellent customer service and client interaction skills for this public-facing position

  • Communicate effectively with trade allies, customers, and utility clients

  • Reliable transportation required. Mileage and expenses will be reimbursed

  • Must be able to meet the requirements to drive for company business

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering preferred

  • CEM certification is a plus

  • PMP Certification preferred
