Position Summary

The Dynamometer Team at Ilmor Engineering operates our Engine Quality Lab. As the leader of this critical team, your will be a key driver of our commitment to delivering world-class engines to our marine and racing customers. The successful candidate will be a hands-on technical subject matter expert on engine dynamometer operations and best practices.

Essential Job Functions

? Responsible for developing and implementing long-term strategic improvement plans, including capital expenditure plan, equipment upgrades & relocation, productivity improvements, safety initiatives and managing department growth? Ensure reliability and up-time of dynamometer equipment through preventative maintenance and calibration? Ensure world-class appearance, cleanliness and organization of the dynamometer department? Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering and assembly teams to schedule workload on Dyno? Perform engine hot tests? Maintain and improve dyno and test process control? Provide leadership and direction to 3-4 Dynamometer Department Technicians, ensuring cross-training and demonstrating commitment to employee development? Monitor department consumables (e.g. fuel, oil, etc.) and collaborate with purchasing team to maintain inventory? Prepare and maintain department budget? Regular on-site attendance is required. Some limited travel may occur, and weekends or late nights may be required to meet critical customer deadlines

Qualifications

? Associate?s Degree (Bachelor?s preferred) in a related technical field? Experience managing direct reports? Experience with preventative maintenance strategies? Demonstrated engine dynamometer experience? Proven track record of driving dynamometer strategic improvements

Equipment & Lab Information

? 4 Engine Dynamometers: water brakes, AC? Spintron? Emissions Testing Equipment? AVL Puma, AVL Bobcat Software? Combustion Air Equipment? Support equipment: process water, fire suppression, gas detection

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus and maintain balance.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand. The employee is frequently required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel objects, use tools or controls, and climb or balance.

  • The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, kneel, crouch, crawl, and talk or hear.

  • This position will require the ability to pilot/drive/steer recreational marine vessels comfortably out on the open water.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electric shock, and explosives.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, some instances of this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary.
