Adient US LLC Product Engineer (Job Code: PRE-PMI) in Plymouth, Michigan

Adient US LLC is seeking Product Engineer for its Plymouth, MI location to develop and provide resolution to customer technical issues through CBU/PBU (Customer Business Unit/Product Business Unit); provide solutions to resolve technical issues in assigned area of design; support PDfSS (Product Design for Six Sigma); data changes to provide high quality build and assembly; develop and implement prototype parts and ensure design data is released on-time to support high quality assemblies for testing and the customer; applies best practices in creating layout drawings, detail drawings and assembly drawings; uses customer environment drawings to ensure no packing or interference problems exist in the drawings/data; support root cause analysis in resolution of test failures and informs engineering manager of any potential safety issues; provide test specifications and reviews set up for product testing in the assigned area of design responsibility; support generation of DFMEAs prior to release of prototype tooling; develop technical solutions to support business objectives (cost, performance, timing weight, and investment); technically support suppliers in product development and drawing creation; and; perform design studies or tolerance stack-ups to ensure high quality of product assembly and performance. Utilize experience with CAD, including Catia for 3D modeling, drawings/layout development, and Teamcenter 10 and/or 11 release; DFAM principles; PDfSS; DFMEA; application of Red X, Kepner Tregoe or similar techniques to conduct root cause analysis; and, Change Management and Indented Bill of Materials to develop and implement project timelines and support high quality assemblies to manufacture end product/s. Education and experience requirements: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field and three (3) years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Product Engineer, or related engineering occupation. The position requires three (3) years of experience with CAD (computer-aided design), including Catia for 3D modeling, drawings/layout development, and Teamcenter 10 and/or 11 release; and, one (1) year of experience with the following: DFAM (Design for Assembly Manufacturing) principles; PDfSS (Product Development for Six Sigma); DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis); application of Red X, Kepner Tregoe or similar techniques to conduct root cause analysis; and, Change Management and Indented Bill of Materials to develop and implement project timelines and support high quality assemblies to manufacture end product/s.
