Job Description

Responsible for planning, ensuring operation and maintenance of all Plymouth Automotive Steering system test lab equipment.

  • Responsible for keeping testing and lab equipment at highest level of quality and planning maintenance, updates, and repairs

  • Ensure compliance of all lab equipment to Bosch health, safety, environmental and facilities requirements

  • Align safety concept of Bosch AS specific equipment with lead test location in Schwaebisch Gmuend, Germany, and ensure that local equipment meets state of the art

  • Identify and remedy complex problems with test equipment and procedures – for example troubleshooting and locating faulty components in electrical cabinets, hydraulic circuits, and mechanical machine elements.

  • Plan and execute preventative maintenance and spare part availability for all test and prototype lab equipment

  • Assist in planning future equipment needs and the required investment - create roadmap for equipment investment, replacement, modernization based on product testing needs and equipment operating status

  • Ensure calibration of all measurement equipment

  • Ensure operation of lab IT equipment (test rig computers, data storage, network communication, etc) and measurement and inventory databases in alignment with Bosch IT for lab regulations

  • Build network of counterparts in testing and machine design departments of headquarters Schwaebisch Gmuend, Germany, and maintain frequent alignment

  • Align test equipment strategy, technical details, roadmap and global capacity needs with lead test location in Schwaebisch Gmuend, Germany

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related engineering field

  • 5+ years of experience with automotive system test equipment or automotive plant assembly equipment

  • 2+ experience reading and understanding mechanical blueprints and electrical diagrams, especially for use of trouble shooting equipment failures. Experience creating such diagrams a plus.

  • Academic or industry experience in control systems and machine design.

Preferred skills

  • German Language

  • Knowledge of function, interfaces and use case of electric power steering systems

  • Knowledge of electric power steering system functional, durability, misuse, environmental and NVH test rigs

  • Proven ability in product design, testing, and prototype construction

  • Matlab programming

  • Theoretical and practical experience using and maintaining hydraulic systems

  • Capable to measure and read electronic characteristics such as voltage, frequency, distortion, inductance, and capacitance

  • Theoretical and practical experience with data acquisition systems, test equipment control software, and programmable logic controllers control systems, such as PID controller
