What you will do:
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with some of the top technical professionals in the medical device industry, sustaining cutting-edge technologies. Specifically, this role is with our Medical R&D Group, focusing on our Acute Care portfolio of products that we believe will significantly impact the quality and cost of patient care. With a focus on sustainment engineering, this role interfaces with numerous functions of the business, including marketing, sales, R&D, clinical, regulatory, and operations. Product Engineers on our team play a lead role in supporting existing products that delight our customers around the globe.
Work with internal and external customers to sustain current products, design feature enhancements, help resolve quality, operations, and supplier issues, and drive cost-savings projects from a design perspective.
Exercise individual judgment and initiative in the application of engineering principles, techniques and methods.
Follow standard work practices and the sound application of engineering principles to all elements of the design process.
Leverage computer aided design tools to implement and assess design approaches.
Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications, reliability and regulatory requirements.
Participate in evaluations of vendor capabilities to support development.
Coordinate with other Stryker divisions, vendors and senior managers as needed to ensure specific cost, time and/or regulatory standards are met.
Participate in design reviews for both intra and inter-divisional projects.
Participate in bottom-up risk management efforts.
Create design control and other required documentation in accordance with established standard operating procedures.
Develop clear & concise reports that include data analysis, interpretations, and recommendations.
Report project status to senior engineers and project management.
What you need:
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited 4-year engineering program in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience
Medical device engineering experience is preferred
Solid understanding of mechanical engineering design principles and practices.
Conversant understanding of electrical / software / controls engineering design principles and practices preferred.
A genuine passion for engineering design evidenced through both personal and professional accomplishments.
Solid skills in parametric solid modelling (PTC CREO preferred) and GD&T.
Surface modeling and PTC Mechanism experience preferred.
Solid analytical skills, including tolerance stack up analysis and application of applicable statistical tools and techniques (Minitab preferred).
Conversant understanding of dynamic, vibration, fatigue, stress and thermal techniques (ANSYS, LMS Virtual Lab, or Mechanical preferred).
Class II / III medical device experience preferred.
Experience in medical device engineering, preferably with a background in textiles or polymers is preferred
