As a Senior Design Engineer-Mechanical, you will be asked to apply sound engineering practices while designing new products and technologies used in surgery. Encompassing everything from brainstorming new concepts to commercialization and manufacturing scale-up, design engineers anchor our New Product Development (NPD) team.

What you will do:
Will be responsible for design, documentation, integration of system features, and development of infrastructure tools or processes for scalability and modularity to deliver best-in-class minimally invasive spine solutions.
Ensures that sound application of engineering principles, practices and procedures are being used and design intent is being achieved
Analyze products and processes to establish operating data, ensure experimental tests are conducted, and evaluate the results
Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications, reliability and regulatory requirements
Aid in the development process by ensuring designs are cost efficient, manufacturable, and are reliable
Assist in evaluating vendor capability to support development
Submit periodic reports on assigned topics to their supervisor
Interact telephonically and in person with customers to resolve product issues
May be assigned to the engineering efforts of a specific product or product line
May coordinate the activities of 1 or more employees
Participates in project planning and estimating activities on a macro (e.g. block diagram from project start to finish) down to a micro level (task level on a day by day basis)
Develops requirements, design, and testing strategies according to user needs, internal and external standards, and regulatory requirements
Identifies root causes of issues, determines potential solutions, and evaluates them against requirements
Follows the company’s standards for product development and quality process and complies with quality management system procedures
Works closely and collaboratively with other members of the development team in a fast-paced team environment
Responsible for achieving relevant performance, time-to-market objectives, and product and project cost targets, all while achieving product quality goals
What you need:
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
Minimum of 2 years of experience
Must be able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
Have the ability to understand geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing
Demonstrated mechanical problem-solving skills
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Must be able to manage time, projects, stress and conflict
Must possess strong interpersonal skills including written and oral communication
Must be able to bring tasks through to completion with minimal supervision
Preferred Technical Competencies and Experience:
Demonstrated experience with ProE (CREO) or CAD
Familiar with Finite Element Analysis and numerical techniques is preferred Competency in design risk analysis (dFMEA)
Medical device design experience
Plastics mold-ability design experience utilizing simulation
