The Tradesperson is the second stage in an HVAC career path with progression based on experience, education, and training. Under the supervision of the maintenance supervisor, assumes responsibility as an expert in the area of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC). Performs preventive maintenance and services on specialty type equipment, working 50% of time on projects and area of specialty and 50% of time on general equipment repairs. Acts as a resource person and troubleshooter in assigned area of specialty. This position serves both the Big Rapids and Reed City Hospitals (Reed City is primary).
Education - High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience - 2 years of experience typically gained through skills/knowledge/abilities in of equivalent experience
Licenses - Drivers License – MI (MI DR LIC)*
Education - Four years of experience in mechanical systems to include: general systems maintenance; HVAC installation and/or service; automotive; heavy equipment; boiler maintenance and service; machinist; etc plus two years experience in a healthcare setting –OR- Two years of experience as HVAC 1, or equivalent experience in a healthcare setting. Four formal courses specifically in HVAC-R that would apply toward an Associate’s degree in HVAC-R. Completion of four specialty courses related to HVAC presented by companies such as: Bell & Gosset, Trane, Johnson Controls, Armstrong, and others.
