Position Overview

Navistar, a leading maker of commercial vehicles, has launched a new business unit, NEXT eMobility Solutions, to deliver customized electrification solutions in the truck and school bus markets using lean, agile practices. NEXT eMobility Solutions is dedicating a world-class, lean engineering team to developing the best products in the electric vehicle space. We are seeking a Senior Engineer EV Systems

  • Support the development of the EV electrical architecture, high voltage system and/or EV sub-systems of electrified commercial vehicle. Help coordinate activities and mentor engineers.

  • Support mechanical, electrical and functional integration of the components and subsystems in the overall vehicle system

  • Lead the development of and release electric propulsion systems and component requirements for the energy storage system, inverter, motor, DCDC converter, on-board charger, electric air compressor and steering pump and other electrified vehicle components

  • Support the requirements management process. Support Product Engineers in the authoring requirements from vehicle to component level resulting in internally and externally supplied component specifications and/or software requirements. Utilize engineering tools and processes to successfully develop and optimize components and systems for vehicle programs

  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal departments to achieve timely execution of program deliverables with good quality

  • Lead the development of mechanical, electrical and functional requirements of internally and externally supplied components and software functionality of the overall vehicle system.

  • Provide support during system and vehicle validation as well as vehicle production launch

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology

  • At least 8 years of experience in product design/development

  • At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities


  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology

  • At least 6 years of experience in product design/development

  • At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities


  • PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology

  • At least 3 years of experience in product design/development

  • At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills

  • Engineering Degree (System, Electrical, Mechanical)

  • Working experience with electric vehicle, EV electronic and electrical modules preferred

  • Working experience with relevant industry standards such as SAE J1939, J1772, ISO15118, ISO 26262, etc. preferred

  • Working experience in following automotive product development process and product production launch preferred
