FANUC America is currently searching for aProduct Development Engineerto join our Paint Mechanical Applicator Development team. Primary responsibilities will include:
Development and engineering responsible for the implementation of fluid delivery parts and systems used in robotic painting.
Will work in areas of component design and testing, material selection, flow control, atomization of paint and understanding the behavior of these elements as they impact the performance and cost of equipment for automotive painting
Work in in interdepartmental teams to concurrently create new robotic painting systems.
Project management
Ability to develop simple project schedules and manage multiple concurrent assignments
Product Design
Develop detailed component and assembly designs in Solidworks including geometric dimensions and tolerances for new part designs
Selection and packaging of fluid control and other commercial components
Define and implement required analysis for component durability and fluid flow problems.
Product Testing
Execute product test plans to evaluate performance, validate reliability, and identify root cause of failures.
Collect and process test data and report results to internal customers and management
Design specialized test equipment to efficiently execute product testing
Product Support
Troubleshoot and investigate customer issues including hardware problems, color change issues and interdisciplinary problems related to paint applications.
Corporate technical guidance
Resolve comments and concerns raised by assembly technicians and/or suppliers.
Provide technical guidance to Quality Assurance to maintain high product quality
Document assembly procedures, manufacturing tests, and guidelines for critical components
Ideal candidate will have the following experience and education:
Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with a focus on Fluid Control, or equivalent relevant experience
Experience in the development and/or testing of equipment, especially fluid control or electropneumatic equipment strongly preferred
Experience working in electrostatics and/or paint atomization a plus
Basic aptitude for mechanisms and fluid control elements
Basic aptitude for reading prints
