FANUC America is currently searching for aSenior Product Development Engineerresponsible for leadership in the implementation of fluid delivery parts and systems used in robotic painting systems in our Paint Mechanical Applicator Development team. Primary responsibilities will include:
A senior development and engineering position responsible for the implementation of fluid delivery parts and systems used in robotic painting.
Will work in areas of component design and testing, material selection, flow control, atomization of paint and understanding the behavior of these elements as they impact the performance and cost of equipment for automotive painting
Direct interdepartmental teams to concurrently create new robotic painting systems.
Project management
Ability to develop and track project schedules, budgets, and manage multiple concurrent assignments to meet customer requirements
Estimate and track product cost to targets.
Supervise product development engineers and lead interdisciplinary project teams
Product Design
Develop detailed component and assembly designs in Solidworks including geometric dimensions and tolerances for new part designs
Specification, selection, and packaging of fluid control and other commercial components
Define and implement required analysis for component durability and fluid flow problems.
Review and approve designs and drawings of associate engineers and product development engineers
Product Testing
Specify and Execute product test plans to evaluate performance, validate reliability, and identify root cause of failures.
Collect and process test data and report results to external and internal customers, and management
Product Support
Troubleshoot and investigate customer issues including hardware problems, color change issues, and interdisciplinary problems related to paint applications.
Coordinate interdisciplinary investigations and reporting to management
Corporate technical guidance
Provide technical guidance to Quality Assurance to maintain high product quality
Evaluate supplier requests for design changes and deviations
Specify and document assembly procedures, manufacturing tests, and guidelines for critical components
Assist Operations Staff in the selection and review of new vendors
Ideal candidate will have the following experience and education:
Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, Master degree preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
Minimum 8 years demonstrated development experience and delivery of at least one fluid control product or system.
Development implementation must have required design and engineering of fluid control components (valves, syringes, regulators, pumps, fluid manifolds, etc.)
Experience working in electrostatics and/or paint atomization a plus
Demonstrated record of planning and executing product tests
Demonstrated ability to read technical drawings including GD&T.
Well-developed understanding of industrial design and engineering
