The AQE is a Leader in our Global Supplier Quality Team and must be motivated to interface with our suppliers and team members of our purchased part commodities. The best candidate must have experience in design, process and build with successful launches. This position has the opportunity for 10-30% annual Global travel.
Major Responsibilities
Lead supplier APQP with key stakeholders via Skype and eAPQP
Responsible for NA supplier launch and performance
Determine part critical characteristics and required process controls
Provide technical expertise and assistance to develop and improve supplier quality systems
Implement and monitor the part qualification and certification process with selected suppliers
Function as a liaison between Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supplier to resolve quality launch issues and to provide technical support
Manage and ensure all program timing is achieved for successful Gate Reviews
Improve quality performance of suppliers through structured problem-solving methods and coordinate/implement effective and timely solutions
Review & approve supplier PPAP Documents utilizing standard APQP and PPAP methods
Maintain required documentation and files
Qualifications
Degree: Bachelor Required, or a minimum of ten years of relevant experience.
Major: Engineering Preferred
Manufacturing or design experience in one or more of the following: Steel, machined components, bearings, stampings, ferrous castings, die castings, plastics, rubber, outside processing.
Demonstrated ability to identify potential defects before tools are built; optimizing processes and materials.
Manufacturing or tool design experience
High level of interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate and facilitate others in group situations and instruct others in new techniques.
Experience in APQP, Minitab, GDT, SPC, DOE.
Ability to prioritize work with limited direction from Supervisor.
Ability and willingness to travel to Nexteer and supplier locations, as required.
Physical Requirements
Speaking & Listening: This position is highly communicative through phone, web conferencing, Skype, and face-to-face with Customers, Suppliers, and company team utilizing English as the primary language.
Carrying: The employee will need to carry a laptop case or backpack with computer while travelling.
Walking: This position requires walking manufacturing processes and from building to building.
Stooping and crouching: The employee will be required to bend forward by bending at the waist or by bending legs and spine.
Sitting: Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
Standing: Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
Climbing: The employee will need to climb stairs within the manufacturing environment.
Color Determination: This job requires color determination vision (no color blindness).
