The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities.
Job Requisition Introductory Paragraph:
This position allows the student to work side-by-side with skilled professionals to assist in the engineering of Steering Columns and Intermediate Shafts. This co-op position exposes the student to multiple areas of the full lifecycle of a project from requirements to design through testing to finally implementation in production for a variety of customer programs. The student will be assigned tasks and projects based on their education level, current skills, and targeted development opportunities in line with current business and project needs.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Assist engineers with testing, analysis, documentation and other project activities.
Create presentations to communicate test findings using Excel and PowerPoint.
Support technology development, innovation, efficiency and process improvement activities.
Assist supervisor in any administrative / clerical work as needed.
Support engineers in gathering, processing, and reviewing data.
Communicate project status and relevant issues.
Coordinate and support build of development parts.
Coordinate with suppliers, other internal staffs, and customers.
Assist in root cause investigations and problem solving studies.
Assist and eventually lead DOE studies.
Candidate must be attending a 2-year college or 4-year university local to Saginaw
Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelors in Engineering
Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters
Up to 40 in the summer
Must have cumulative 2.7 GPA on 4.0 scale
Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters
Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
