Nexteer Automotive Manufacturing Engineer (2021) in Saginaw, Michigan


• Procure new EPS electronic assembly equipment and tools for global programs

• Complete equipment specs, runoff books, and machine qualification process documents as required

• Complete new program launch activities per CPI for all equipment procurements

• Support new program launch activities in region for global programs

• Participate in customer RFQ cost activities (ECR process)

• Coordinate bill-of-process documentation and updates

• Participate in cross functional global team meetings to assist in resolving manufacturing issues

• Implement process improvement ideas using structured problem solving tools


Degree: Bachelors

Major: Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

• 2+ years of experience required with manufacturing equipment and tooling or 2+ years of experience in controls engineering preferred

• Working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical controls as it applies to manufacturing equipment

• Preferred knowledge of motor & controller assembly processes or sensor assembly processes

• Preferred knowledge of servo pressing, auto-dispensing, auto-screw driving, vision systems

• Preferred knowledge of robotic part processing and material handling

• Preferred knowledge of auto-solder processes and IPC-A-610 acceptability of electronic assemblies

• Preferred knowledge of automated, palletized assembly processing

• Preferred knowledge of Siemens PLM/TcM Software

• Working knowledge of geometric tolerancing and product drawing interpretation

• Good project management skills engaging multiple functional disciplines such as product Eng, quality, plant ME, and purchasing

• Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

• Good computer skills and AutoCad preferred

• Knowledge of problem-solving techniques (i.e. Fast X/ Green Belt)
