Nexteer Automotive Manufacturing Engineer, Plastics (2021) in Saginaw, Michigan
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specify, develop, validate and install new equipment and tools
Leads the design, development, and improvement of manufacturing processes for an assigned area
Utilize project management skills to plan and execute assigned projects; manage budget as required
Understand & lead safety / ergonomic requirements
Implement manufacturing system best practices and common systems globally
Lead the implementation, support, and provide continuous improvement of lean and agile manufacturing systems.
Estimate lead time and cost of capital equipment.
Estimate lead time and cost of tooling, molds, and special equipment.
Develop common manufacturing systems for global implementation
Develop, specify, validate and install new equipment and tools globally
Communicate with all stakeholders, supervisors, engineers, skilled trades, etc. to meet customer needs
QUALIFICATIONS:
DEGREE: Bachelors
MAJOR: Plastics / Mechanical /or Manufacturing Engineering
Working Knowledge with plastic machine, tool, and die design.
Working knowledge of injection molding process, mold machines, and molds.
Working knowledge of plastic joining operations such as hot plate welding, sonic welding, and spin welding.
Working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical controls
High level of analytical skills
Good interpersonal skills
Good computer skills
Knowledge of GD&T
Ability and willingness to travel globally to Nexteer locations and supplier locations.
Knowledge of Quality Network and Shanin / Six Sigma preferred
Knowledge of TS-16949 and ISO-14001 preferred
Previous experience in manufacturing industrial product, tool or design engineering, and AUTO CAD preferred
5-10 years previous experience with plastic processing, tool and equipment build or equivalent preferred
