MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specify, develop, validate and install new equipment and tools globally
Develop common Manufacturing systems for global implementation
Rebuild/Retool and validate equipment globally
Leads the design, development, and improvement of manufacturing processes for an assigned area
Utilize project management skills to plan and execute assigned projects; manage budget as required
Understand & lead safety / ergonomic requirements
Implement manufacturing system best practices and common systems globally
Lead the implementation, support, and provide continuous improvement of lean and agile manufacturing systems.
Estimate lead time and cost of capital equipment.
Estimate lead time and cost of tooling, fixtures, and special equipment.
Communicate with all stakeholders, supervisors, engineers, skilled trades, etc. to meet customer needs
Support of Global Manufacturing Plants.
Specific assignment: Heat Treatment and Cleaning of automotive components. Carburizing atmosphere/vacuum and temper furnace/ovens. Washing, shot blast and, deburr/polish
QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree: Bachelors Major: Mechanical, Metallurgical or Manufacturing Engineering
5 or more years of previous experience with Heat Treat, process engineering, tool and equipment build or equivalent
5 years previous experience with equipment build and in plant experience or equivalent project management experience preferred
Working knowledge of carburizing and tempering furnaces preferred
Working Knowledge with Heat Treatment and Cleaning of automotive components. Carburizing atmosphere/vacuum and temper furnance/ovens. Washing, shot blast and, deburr/polish machines, tooling, and other heat treat processes.
Working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical controls
High level of analytical skills
Good interpersonal skills
Good computer skills
Knowledge of GD&T
Ability and willingness to travel globally to Nexteer locations and supplier locations.
Knowledge of Quality Network and Shanin / Six Sigma preferred
Knowledge of TS-16949 and ISO-14001 preferred
Previous experience in manufacturing industrial product, tool or design engineering, and AUTO CAD preferred
Global travel required
Physical Requirements:
Standing: While working with industrial equipment.
Sitting: Office environment, working at a computer, meetings
Speaking & Listening: Communicating with work team, suppliers, customers
Walking/Mobility: For walking around the manufacturing plants, and office areas.
Lifting: ability to occasionally lift large tooling and parts no heavier than 20 lbs. for placing on work surface.
