Product Engineer – Core Mechanical
Major Job Responsibilities:
Core component owner for REPS tie rods and rack & pinion tooth mesh adjustment mechanisms
Responsible for core template drawings
Responsible for core template DFMEA and DSS
Support cost reduction initiatives
Perform design analysis including component and subassembly stacks using GD&T
On-time delivery of projects while meeting or exceeding all initial project criteria
Work collaboratively with manufacturing engineering and GSM to develop lowest cost designs
Work with GSM and Advanced Supplier Quality to implement new programs
Assist application groups with implementation of new programs
Stays abreast of new technology
Timely communication of project status and relevant issues.
Regular contact with others outside the work group.
Support continuous improvement activities.
Ability to learn and understand the fundamentals of tie rod design
Ability to learn and understand the fundamentals rack & pinion tooth mesh adjustment mechanism design
High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
Good working knowledge of GD&T
Ability to perform dimensional limit stack analysis using GD&T
Knowledge of the REPS gear product design and/or manufacturing processes preferred
Ability to evaluate various technology alternatives to achieve project goals, especially design and process trade-offs
Demonstrated ability to manage projects and coordinate multi-functional activities.
Sensitivity to issues working in a global environment: - communications / coordination / culture / language.
Good oral & written skills.
Knowledge / expertise in the following: Microsoft Office, Problem solving techniques
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
