Nexteer Automotive Product Engineer - Steering Columns (2018) in Saginaw, Michigan

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Specific job assignment will be dependent on the experience level of the candidate selected and may be include product engineering on new or current steering column and/or I-shaft programs.

  • Conduct product design projects per the CPI process.

  • Collaborate with CAD designers to create robust designs and effective drawings.

  • Conduct DSS Assessments.

  • Create/update DFMEA’s

  • Engineering Release products, components, and design changes.

  • Maintain positive, effective working relationships with our customers.

  • Collaborate with ME, GSM, Operations, and PCL to implement designs that are robust and enable world class quality and cost performance.

  • Collaborate with other functional staffs on cost reduction projects.

  • Support manufacturing plants in problem solving.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Degree: Bachelor

Maojr: Mechanical Engineering

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in engineering

  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with customers, suppliers, and other functional staffs.

  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult.

  • Knowledge of the principles of project management.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of steering column product design and/or manufacturing processes preferred.

  • Strong problem solving capability with Design for Six Sigma, Shainin Red X, or Six Sigma Greenbelt certification preferred
