Nexteer Automotive Sensor Product Engineer (2018) in Saginaw, Michigan

We are looking for candidates that have experience in sensor design. Especially in the area of plastic injection molded components. Candidate must be a self-starting, confident engineer willing to take on multiple projects with a desire to learn and grow with the team. Typical days involve participation with the program teams for the specific applications where the engineer will discuss the requirements for their component. They will then interface with manufacturing engineers, suppliers, designers, or supply management in support of those programs. This position is open due to rapid growth in the Electric Power Steering (EPS) business line as well as new customers.

Description:

  • Designs and develops sensor components

  • Creates and maintains product designs and specifications

  • Diagnoses and corrects deficiencies in designs and prototypes

  • Approves design drawing/specification release and change, supports configuration management

  • Provides technical direction to support personnel

  • Coordinates prototype build and test activities

  • Assists in maintaining cost controls

  • Stays abreast of new technology

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent problem-solving techniques and analytical ability

  • Familiarity with GD&T and drawing standards

  • Must have excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work both independently and with others.

  • Good organization and documentation skills

  • Knowledge of injection molding manufacturing processes

  • Strong computer skills and training in common computer applications

  • Familiarity with automotive product development processes and project management is preferred

  • Industry experience is preferred but not required. On the job training is available.

Education:

Bachelor – Mechanical Engineering
