The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. Job Requisition Introductory Paragraph:
This position will allow the student to assist with the requirement analysis and architecture development of our powerpack system functions. The student will work directly with our IBM suite of requirement and architecture management tools, including helping develop new and updated templates to be used with those tools. In addition to working with the tools and content directly, the student will support other team members through peer review checklists, verification plans, related development projects, and ensuring proper flow down of upper system level requirements into the powerpack system level of requirements for specific customer programs. The student will be fully encouraged to use their multi-disciplinary system engineering knowledge to not only support, but improve, our existing methods.
The duration of this internship is January – May with the potential of extending through the Summer (i.e. through August). We anticipate this role will be fully remote; however, the selected candidate will to have the flexibility to be onsite in Saginaw as needed (potentially 1-2 days per week).
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Requirement analysis and modeling of powerpack system functions (i.e., motor control, power management, thermal management) for electronic steering systems.
System architecture development for the powerpack system for electronic steering systems.
Support development of peer review checklists, and peer reviews for requirements and verification plans.
Support development of standard templates for powerpack system architecture
Support application teams in flow down of system level requirements to the Powerpack system level.
Design and optimize simultaneous system performance goals through requirements flow down.
Effectively integrate all aspects of a design through the use of multi-disciplinary engineering.
Understand and create system and subsystem specifications.
Stay abreast with new technology.
Candidate must have earned a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics with emphasis on Electromagnetics, Electric Machines, Sensing Systems, Embedded Systems or Control Systems
Candidate must be currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Systems Engineering + Design or Electrical Engineering, ideally with an emphasis in motor control systems and drives, control systems, or Systems Engineering.
Strong computer skills, and knowledge of simulation tools (e.g. Matlab), and requirements management tools (Doors) is preferred
Must have cumulative 2.7 GPA on 4.0 scale
