Aerotek Controls Engineer in Shelby, Michigan
Controls Engineer. The primary responsibilities will include;
Programming, troubleshooting, debugging the assembly equipment
Along with trouble shooting an issue is that they will need to make program changed by adding steps or removing steps
Machines they will work on include assembly machines, sonic welders, Clip machines, RAP machines
Assist with install of new machines that other companies ; work closely with Assembly Equipment Suppliers to ensure equipment is programmed correctly
Support manufacturing team with computer software and program needs
Work with Maintenance
Trouble shoot and resolve manufacturing & secondary tooling / equipment related issues
Track & ensure secondary tooling is completed correctly and launches successfully
Travel: Less than 5%; may need to go to tool shops at times; Grand Rapids would be the farthest tool shop (CG Automation)
Hours: 1st shift (7:00am - 8:00am start time) but are on call at times since they run production at these locations; Hours are between 45-50 hours a week.
Controls engineer will start the morning off with reviewing the "open issues list" to see what machines are down or need work on. Duane will be ready to give direction regardless. At the end of each shift, controls engineer will need to document work completed in excel spreadsheet to track issues being completed in real time.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
At least 5 years of experience working as a Controls Engineer/PLC programmer
Previous experience with Allen Bradley doing start-up, troubleshooting, and debugging in RS Logix 500 or RS Logix 5000
HMI experience (its just like a PLC, if candidate has worked with RS Logix 500/5000 they will have exp with this.)
Mechanical ability (i.e be able to mount a bracket on a piece of equipment)
Previous experience working & communicating with others on the plant floor in an automotive production environment (i.e. operators, maint tech)
Nice to Have:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
ABB or FANUC robot experience
Programming from scratch
Knowledge or experience with Vision Systems; either Cognex or Keyence
