Eaton’s eMobility Division is currently seeking a Electronic Systems Engineering Specialist to join our team. This position is based at our Southfield, MI facility. Relocation assistance will be provided.

Position Overview:

The Electronic Systems Engineering Specialist will guide the development and design of inverters with a keen eye towards safety concept, and analysis in accordance with ISO26262. A large portion of this includes developing diagnostic strategies and safe guards in the system to avoid the hazards presented to the vehicle operator by a high voltage traction inverter. There will be a large emphasis on system design including measurement systems, diagnostic strategies, strategic component selection, and cost out activities.

In this function you will:

  • Develop system requirements for a primary mover automotive inverter meeting ISO26262 safety standard.

  • Use tools such as HARA, DFMEA, P-Diagrams and others to generate quality requirements for function and safety.

  • Work with customers to get feedback, product requirements and gain insight to technical problems that the system might be able to solve and add value.

  • Collaborate with electrical, software, and mechanical designers to achieve optimal requirements that balance cost, performance and time to market without compromise in safety.

  • Review requirements developed by other system engineers.

  • Review test cases for test coverage.

  • Participate in detailed design reviews.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution

  • Minimum seven (7) years experience in technical role

  • Minimum three (3) years with functional safety standards like IEC61508 and ISO26262

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified in functional safety industry standards, such as ISO26262 or IEC61508

  • Experience developing and launching products that contained embedded controls and electronics

  • Statistical tools knowledge (DoE, Weibull, Minitab)

  • Knowledge of the DFMEA, Risk log, and 8D process

  • Knowledge of Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessments

  • Knowledge of FTA’s, FMEA’s, and FMEDA’s

  • Engineering Master’s degree from an accredited university.

  • Automotive component development.

  • Experience with IBM Jazz Tools.

  • Experience with AUTOSAR framework.

  • Experience with diagnostic development (BIST)
