Eaton Corporation Head of Application Engineering and Acquisitions in Southfield, Michigan
The Head of Application Engineering and Acquisitions will be responsible for globally leading Eaton e-Mobility engineering activities during the business acquisition and award phase. The leader will be responsible for partnering with internal leaders to execute an annual pipeline of RFQ exceeding $1-billion dollars in the space of automotive power electronics such as traction inverters, on-board chargers, and DC converters as well as circuit protection devices.
In this role, you will lead and manage a global multidisciplinary team through the quotation process to ensure all that appropriate internal/external deliverables are addressed in the final quote submission package. Upon award, the leader will ensure a successful transition to the execution phase and provide regional application engineering support to the product development teams.
In This Function You Will:
Directly manage regional application engineering & pursuit functions in NA, EMEA and China
Plan, lead and manage pre-acquisition and acquisition phase (pursuit) activities to ensure successful and comprehensive responses to RFI and RFQ
Partner with product line team to develop a conceptual offering, compliance matrix, detailed execution plan, and comprehensive bill of material
Collaborate and lead product line teams, program management, supply chain and advanced manufacturing to ensure program deliverables and timing are understood and customer expectations are met
Ensure all appropriate customer deliverables are addressed in the final quote submission package
Upon award, ensure a clear and comprehensive “Day 1 plan” can be executed that transitions the team from acquisition to program execution phase
Work collaboratively with product strategy and product line leaders to identify, prioritize, and successfully capture top line pursuits
Translate annual Strategic Plan to establish and manage pursuit budgets for cumulative pursuits
Build global engineering capabilities to complement core product line engineering teams to (a) successfully execute acquisition activities; and (b) upon award, regional application support including resident engineering to support program execution phase
Manage resources and team to achieve goals.
Coach and mentor direct and indirect team members to meet commitments Oversee the execution of all project life cycle engineering activities including (1) pre-acquisition, (2) acquisition/pursuit, (3) application engineering, and (4) sustaining engineering
Ensure all engineering processes follow Eaton e-Mobility standards.
Collaborate with numerous external stakeholders including component suppliers, engineering services and OEM.
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution required
Minimum of 3 years in automotive electronics product development
Minimum of 10 years in cumulative automotive product development
MBA or Masters in Electrical Engineering and Software Engineering
3 years in automotive business development
5 years in the e-Mobility space
