Position Overview:

The Lead Mechanical Engineer is part of a team developing eMobility systems solutions. As a member of the team, you will help define requirements, contribute to definition of hardware designs, generate xEV system solutions and models, work with customers on xEV integration with motors and chassis.

In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for working with their Engineering Manager to achieve the desired results. Achieving the desired results will require individual contributions as well as contributions attained as part of a team. You will work closely with engineers located in various locations in the U.S., Europe, Brazil and Asia.

In this function you will:

  • Define and improve systems engineering standards and processes, contribute to industry technical papers and conferences.

  • Utilize problem solving skills to improve system performance and reliability of the EV system.

  • Contribute to continued enhancement of architecture to support additional product features.

  • Analyze vehicle data from test and customer vehicles to investigate, identify, and resolve issues and performance complaints.

  • Support prototype and production OEM vehicle integration and development efforts.

  • You will develop and support new innovative products, using the Eaton PROLaunch stage-gate process, on time, on budget, and to project scope. Including developing BOMs, DFMEA’s and DVP&R’s.

    Qualifications

    Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required

  • Minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience

  • Minimum of one (1) year 3D CAD experience

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this role. All candidates considered must live within 50 miles of Southfield, MI. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in relevant engineering field

  • Experience with SysML tools such as IBM Rhapsody

  • Experience with NVH analysis

  • Experience using simulation software tools to validate mechanical designs (stress, thermal, dynamics, tolerance stacks, etc.)

  • CREO/ ProE

  • Experience with powertrain/ vehicle dynamometers

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills in mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Basic understanding of vehicle drivetrain/ powertrain systems.

  • Strong communication skills with ability to interface directly with external partners, suppliers, and both internal and external customers.

  • Ability to work with a team and customers located globally.
