The Position: We’re looking for a Designer Senior Mechanical
The Senior Designer will be able to deliver quality results in:
Concept design
Assembly drawing & BOM development
Detail drawing and manufacturing spec definition
Development and design of mechanical structures and components for products and solutions
Responsibilities:
To define the machine and tool concept and share with the Control Designer the system’s correct application
To adhere to sold content by design to cost approach
To understand the cycle diagram of the station starting from machine schemes
To define/check the correct manufacturing spec with detail drawings
To choose the best technical solutions using Comau standards and internal/external design guidelines
Achievement of time and costs targets for their part of project defined and shared with System Engineer / Project Engineer / Technical Leader
Respond to the failure/risk/open issues discovered in manufacturing phase
Provide support in case of failure/risk/open issues discovered in installation/commissioning phase
Prepare documentation for design reviews (clamping strategy, flowcharts…) and customer deliverables required
Drive and check suppliers’ work progress
Participate in design reviews
Check 2D drawings before delivery to manufacturing
Providing technical support to System Engineer / Project Engineer / Technical Leader in change management
Other duties as required
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Requirements:
Senior Mechanical engineer: minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Automation Systems engineering department.
PLM System
2D Cad tools (AutoCAD)
3D Modeling tools (Solidworks)
Mechanical components for automation
Design to Installation / Commissioning
Mechanical design – Concept Phase
Mechanical design – 3D Design Phase
Mechanical design – 2D Design Phase
Ergonomics evaluations
Payload calculation
Design For Manufacturing and Assembly
Change Management
Ability to autonomously develop a complete mechanical design concept of fixtures and equipment
Ability to guide a small team of junior mechanical engineers to complete the design and help the team to follow uniform technical solutions
Mechanical understanding of industrial equipment and machinery
Analysis and test for cost reduction
Logistics standards / processes
Process engineering and Cycle time
Transportation / Conveyor systems design (mechanical / controls)
Value analysis, design to cost
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of powertrain machining equipment.
Knowledge of robot systems
Knowledge of Siemens NX, FeatureCAM
Knowledge of vision systems
5 years with an automation company
5 years experience with powertrain machining
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
