We are seeing an experienced Process Controls Engineer join our St Charles team. This is both a strategic and hands-on role that is critical in executing our key results, providing great internal customer support and driving operations excellence and process improvement. The Process Controls Engineer would be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing (building some parts of the back end of machines), and maintaining production and facility equipment, in addition to problem solve manufacturing and supporting processes. This position provides a wonderful opportunity to grow into a global resource for our other sites.

Additionally, the Process Controls Engineer should have creative problem-solving skills and patience to evaluate and troubleshoot process and control system performance. The ideal candidate would have experience in electrical design and programming and be extremely knowledgeable in the following:
Electrical Design and Troubleshooting
Support installation of new equipment for expansion to ensure projects are completed successfully, within budget, and on-time.
Share best practices and implement standard procedures as a member of the plant-site team.
Create and standardize manufacturing work instructions for repairing and operating equipment, and provide hands-on support to troubleshoot and repair machine breakdowns.
Assist in the development and implementation of improved methods of manufacturing, procedures, and processes that result in improved efficiencies, yields, machine operations, and quality.
Review, investigate, and come up with resolutions for complex problems.
Designing or redesigning electrical schematics, PLC, robotics, and other systems as needed.
Computer Structure and Logic Sciences
Applied and Theoretical Physics, Mathematics, Sciences
DC, AC, advanced electricity, and troubleshooting analog and digital electronics
Instrumentation and control systems
Programmable logic controllers
Hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
Design, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of operation of automation systems
Core Competencies
Basic electricity (Industrial Electronics)
Machine tooling skills
Process validation experience (IQ, OQ, PQ)
Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, and diagrams to find the sequence and method of assembly of a piece of equipment, machine, or part.
A thorough component level understanding of electrical devices used in manufacturing
Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic control systems and communicate technical solutions for any control system challenges.
Familiar with automation and controls industry standards and support contacts.
Strong interpersonal, listening, questioning, and communication skills (written and oral)
Ability to work on several projects simultaneously with varying scope and effectively prioritize workload to ensure deliverables are met
Strong work ethic, ability to learn hands-on, attention to detail
Ability to multi-task and work cross-functionally
Ability to properly balance cost, schedule, and quality of the delivered project
Knowledge of Server and Network architecture and administration
Ability to verify parts dimensions using precision measuring instruments to be sure specifications are met.
Required Education, Certifications
Electro-Mechanical Technology Associate of Applied Science Degree, similar degree/certification, or relevant functional experience required
2-10 years’ experience in design and/or manufacturing environment
BNR Prolog highly desirable
Proven experience with PLC Programming (Allen Bradley preferred) hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical and engineering.
Knowledge of Allen Bradley, Wonderware, FactoryTalk, PlantPAX software preferred
Previous experience with Lean and Six Sigma a plus
Mechanical design experience a plus
Bachelor of Science, a plus
