Henry Ford Health System Maintenance Mechanic - Full Time - Lakeside Medical Center in Sterling Heights, Michigan
Under general supervision is responsible for the safe and economical maintenance of all heating, cooling, ventilation, medical gases and utilities systems of the hospital. Assists the licensed engineers in the operation and maintenance of all power plant equipment and in hospital construction projects. Performs other duties as required.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs regular maintenance on all HVAC mechanical equipment such as motors, fans, pumps, medical gas systems, air compressors, etc.
Repairs and replaces control valves, fan shafts, bearings, belts, hydraulic systems, etc.
Utilizes hand and heavy-duty power tools; pyrometers, aerometers, oxy-acetylene torches, grinders, etc., to perform minor and major repairs.
Performs preventative maintenance on all mechanical and utilities systems equipment. Lubricates compressors, motors, and other moving parts and inspects for cracks, unusual wear or noise.
Cleans heating/cooling coils, motors and water towers.
Determines mechanical system problems when no apparent causes are apparent.
Responds to emergency calls such as floods and fires. Takes appropriate action to isolate water or evacuate smoke.
Assists construction crews in areas of new construction or renovation. Installs new equipment, such as piping, heating/cooling units, controls, etc.
Installs new and replacement heavy duty mechanical equipment requiring rigging and fabricating hoists and frames.
Performs other duties as directed such as cleaning and painting equipment rooms, motors, fans, etc.
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
At least three (3) years of HVAC experience.
3-5 years Building Maintenance experience with hands on experience with electrical, plumbing, HVAC is preferred.
