The Vehicle Efficiency Engineering Team at the Hyundai-Kia America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is an engineering part that focuses on improving powertrain and drivetrain system efficiency of Hyundai/Kia passenger vehicles for the North American market. The team's key roles and responsibilities are:ulliSupport and establish targets for future fuel economy (MPG or MPGe) performance through analysis of current and future Hyundai and Kia vehicles, as well as competitive vehicles/liliInvestigate new or advanced technologies, strategies, and methods to achieve improved fuel economy or efficiency in current and future Hyundai and Kia production vehicles while considering system costs, drivability, and performance impacts/liliAnalyze competitive data sets and assess future trends in passenger vehicle fuel economy and energy efficiency related technologies/liliLead activities for developing and integrating new or advanced technologies for improving vehicle and system efficiencies, to attain targeted vehicle fuel economy (MPG/MPGe) and to understand and document impacts/trade-offs to vehicle performance and drivability/liliUnderstand and coordinate activities with other Propulsion System Development teams, as well as Product Planning and Certification and Regulation teams, for impact of proposed technologies for developing vehicles/li/ul We are looking for a talented and motivated engineer for identifying, developing, and integrating more efficient powertrain and drivetrain technologies in our current and next generation Hyundai/Kia vehicles. This position is responsible for project success as part of a project team providing technical support to internal customers in the area of Propulsion System Development/Vehicle RD. Travel requirement for this position is up to 10%, primarily domestic and occasional international business trip would be required. The ideal candidate must have the following capabilities and be able to significantly contribute to achievement of the team's objectives:ulliSetup and conduct vehicle testing for fuel economy, efficiency benchmarking, and analyze the test data using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink/liliInvestigation and development of new, more efficient technologies and strategies that enable short-term and long-term benefits for production vehicles/liliIntegrate new technologies in targeted vehicle applications and execute appropriate test program(s) for validation of technologies' benefits/liliResearch current regulatory requirements, including testing procedures, and provide concise information to help other engineers understand technical requirements to support our test and development activities/liliSupport engineering teams within HATCI and our Korea RD Center to define and demonstrate vehicle efficiency improvement concepts and technologies in vehicle applications through testing and simulation/liliCoordinate and track development test plans and status/liliCreate and present reports, with documentation of technical analysis, system trade-offs as well as business case for technologies/li/ulBasic Qualifications:ulliBachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related engineering degree/liliAt least 1 year of experience in (1) testing powertrain and vehicles, (2) evaluating performance, emissions, and fuel economy test data, (3) writing and presenting technical reports for other engineers and managements/liliStrong interpersonal and technical problem solving skills/liliKnowledge of internal combustion engines, transmissions, electrified powertrain systems, overall vehicle systems and vehicle operation/liliExperience with data acquisition systems and analysis tools such as ETAS/INCA/lilt
