font class="bold"Job Description/fontThe Transmission and Electrified Drivetrain Team is based at Hyundai-Kia America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) in Superior Township, Michigan. We are an engineering team that focuses on developing transmission calibrations and technologies for the North American market. The team's key roles and responsibilities include:ulliDevelopment and validation of shift quality calibrations for automatic transmissions in production-intent vehicles for North America./liliInvestigation of new technologies for applications in planetary automatic(A/T), continuously variable(CVT), or dual clutch transmissions(DCT)./liliInvestigation and development of electrified drivetrain technologies and strategies for use in North America./liliAnalysis of competitor transmission technologies and control strategies./liliSupporting Hyundai Motors America(HMA), Kia Motors America(KMA), Hyundai Motors Manufacturing Alabama(HMMA), Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia(KMMG), Kia Motors Mexico(KMM), and other partners with transmission-related issues in North America./liliSupporting long-term durability testing of various transmissions./li/ulWe are seeking an experienced and motivated Transmission Development Engineer for assisting in the development of new transmission technologies and control strategies to improve drivability and shift quality, support and root cause analysis of transmission quality issues, assist with the development of hybrid drivetrains. The ideal candidate should have relevant work experience and be able to significantly contribute in the following areas:ulliEvaluate drivability and shift quality performance of prototype, production, and competitive vehicles in order to judge segment acceptance as well as identify potential refinement issues./liliAssist with the development of new transmission control logic to validate proof-of-concept functions./liliSupport shift quality calibration using ETAS INCA for production-intent vehicles in multiple environments such as extreme hot (120F+), extreme cold (-30f), high="" altitude,="" and="" other=""/-30f),/liliSupport root cause analysis of transmission and drivability issues identified in warranty claims, IQS, VDS, and by other means in order to develop recommendations for potential countermeasures./liliSupport development and validation of hybrid control logic on various HEV architectures to support continuous improvement of drivability and shift quality/liliInstrument and evaluate hardware architecture and control logic on competitive vehicles./liliGenerate project reports and presentations which present key information in a clear and concise manner./liliTravel requirement for this position is up to 20% of time domestic and international./li/ul font class="bold"Experience and Skills/fontulliulliBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar related degree/lili35 years of experience in (1) design and development of automatic transmissions (A/T, CVT, DCT) or related areas (shift quality calibration experience preferred), (2) evaluating the drivability and shift quality performance of pre-production and production vehicles, (3) root cause analysis of transmission hardware and software related quality issues./liliETAS INCA experience preferred/liliValid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record/liliCandidates applying for positions with Hyundai Kia must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
