Advanced Battery Modules Engineer

  • Responsible for the definition of requirements and design of Battery Pack Module Components
  • Design and integration of battery module components into Battery Pack
  • Work with Designers to ensure interface, assembly and packaging compatibility
  • Work with Analysis Engineers to develop robust solutions in a timely and cost effective manner
  • Leverage lessons learned from other programs, OEs and suppliers
  • Work with BOM Family Owners (BFOs) and SMEs to select appropriate design solution ideas, materials and peripheral components and reuse parts where appropriate
  • Work with manufacturing and CAE to ensure ability to manufacture and assemble.
  • Assist in determining KCDS requirements
  • Work with service to ensure serviceability
  • Lead DFMEA and DRBFM activity for module components
  • Support DFMEA, DRBFM, and DRBTR activities for cell, module and other Structures areas of the battery, including the electrical integration of the module
  • Provide input to Module and Structures ADVP&R plan
  • Oversee Module and Structures DV and PV activities
  • Work with Battery Project Lead and Pack Lead DRE to execute optimal Pack Module design, and to ensure successful packaging of all Module components
  • Facilitate agreement on Interface Documents
  • Execute plan to ensure quality targets
  • Have an innovative outlook on automotive battery pack, module and cell design to facilitate the creation of new designs that keep GM batteries on the cutting edge of battery design

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of design
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical component manufacturing processes
  • Design, Release and Launch of Production battery module components
  • Project Management Skills
  • Quick learner – able to identify and implement creative design and process solutions
  • BSE, BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Equivalent
  • 5 years of overall engineering experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiar with GM Batteries and/or GM electro-mechanical architectures and components
  • GM development, validation and release experience
  • Knowledge of GM test procedures and practices
  • Knowledge of GM program timing system and GVDP/GPDP deliverables
  • Working knowledge of UGNX and TeamCenter (including VisMock-up)
  • Working knowledge of GM Hybrid systems (high voltage controls, etc.)
  • Experience designing parts using advanced materials or manufacturing methods
  • DFSS Black Belt or Master Black Belt Certification
  • MSE, MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Chemistry, or Equivalent
  • 7 years of overall engineering experience
  • Experience with managing innovation
