We are a leading automation and robotics solutions company serving the auto industry and other industries.
What You Will Be Doing
The Controls Engineer will be responsible for developing control designs, machine logic, providing controls debug/startup assistance and supports the cost estimating process in regard to capital equipment and manufacturing tooling used in the fabrication and assembly of automotive (and non-automotive) components.
The Controls Engineer will be instrumental in the selection of controls architecture and components based on the customer provided RFQ / specifications and internally generated proposal process.
Analyze RFQ / Project Scope requirements
Controls estimating and documentation based on conceptual processes and proposal content
Controls design (control panel, schematics, logic) and programming / debug of automated control systems.
Assist in the preparation of proposals / sales presentations that explain; proposed process / system, project and end-user requirements.
Perform other tasks as required and assigned by management (customer meetings, project line-ups, end-user plant visits etc.).
What You Need for this Position
At Least 3 Years of experience and knowledge of:
GM Hardware Certified
GM Software Certified
Bachelor's degree (Electrical Engineering or similar) or equivalent hands-on experience.
GM Hardware Certified GCCH-1 plus experience and/or GM Software Certified GCCS-2 plus experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of manufacturing processes (robotic, fixtures, cells, general capital) and latest controls technologies used within the processes.
Ability to comprehend customer requirements from specifications / RFQ's and integrates each into a competitive controls estimate used for project proposals.
Functional knowledge of robotics and/or automation.
Functional experience working with engineering design projects and machine startup.
Functional experience with Auto-CAD/ePLAN.
Experience with industrial control systems, specifically automotive BIW (Body-in-White) and GA (General Assembly) applications (at least one focused area required).
Understanding of resistance welding, processes and customer weld quality requirements.
Knowledge of safety standards including RIA/ANSI 15.06 and NFPA.
Competence in hardware design involving control components including:
PLC's -Rockwell, Siemens
HMI's-Rockwell Machine Edition, Siemens SIMATIC
Safety Controllers-Rockwell GuardLogix, Pilz, Siemens ProfiSafe
Field BUS I/O-DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP, ProfiNET, ProfiBUS
RFID (Radio Frequency ID) tags (Interface, Reading and Writing)
VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) and Servo Motors
Torque control applications (Nutrunners and fastening systems)
Conveyor transport, stops, rotates and trafficking control
Robot interface and control
Power distribution and protection
Familiar with US NEC, NFPA, GM, Tower, Lear specifications.
Familiar with GM, Chrysler drawing standards.
