Element Materials Technology Designer in Warren, Michigan

Overview

Element has an opportunity for an experienced Designer to join our growing team based in Warren, MI. This is a great opportunity for an individual to grow their career with one of the fastest growing companies within the Testing, Inspection & Certification sector.

Responsibilities

  • Design fixtures required to support testing of customers parts, primary market automotive

  • Work closely with colleagues and customers to achieve product design requirements

  • Actively participate and present designs for group reviews, both internally and with customers

  • Generate working drawings to support machine shop

  • Provide status updates, quote assistance and other internal and external customer service responsibilities as needed

  • Tracking and meeting design milestone dates

  • Working a flexible schedule with overtime when required. (average 48-52 hrs/wk)

Skills / Qualifications

  • 4-6 years' experience in fixture design & detailing for the Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) Industry

  • Education and experience required to interpret and convey GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) requirements

  • NX and SoildWorks experience a must

  • In-depth understanding of testing concepts

  • Understanding of machine process

  • Basic knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics and electrical

  • Strong computer skills

  • Working knowledge of laboratory safety and quality assurance practices

  • Communicate professionally with clients

  • Maintains a clean and organized work-space

  • Ability to manage multiple projects

  • Engineering specifications and understanding
