Element Materials Technology Principal Calibration Technician in Warren, Michigan

Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Principal Calibration Technician to perform a variety of routine and non-routine metrology assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate results without direct supervision. The technician positions must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to safety rules, code of conduct and company policy and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Applies knowledge of measurement science, mathematics, physics, and electronics to calibration Test

  • Measurement, & Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE); in the electrical, dimensional, optical, physical, mechanical, thermodynamic, and/or chemical disciplines to ensure measurement accuracy

  • Local travel in the Detroit Metro area locations to perform various calibration tasks

  • Recommends standards, writes and reviews calibration procedures/processes as necessary, maintains calibration reports for proper traceability

  • Must have good verbal and written communications skills and be able to prioritize workload of their team in a constantly changing environment

  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, orders processing and database software programs and systems. Including but not limited to: Microsoft software products, Fluke METCAL and METTEAM

  • Must be self motivated and have the ability to work independently under little to no supervision

  • Frequently interacts with other technicians, Customer Service Representatives, Managers and customers

Skills / Qualifications

  • Has a recognized scientific or engineering qualification, normally at Bachelor degree level and/or 5 + years of significant experience in the field through which an equivalent level of knowledge has been attained

  • Strong background of Oscilloscopes, DVM, Thermodynamics, Power Supplies, Torque, Load Force, Pressure

  • Materials and industrial process control equipment

  • Familiarity with ISO / IEC17025 Testing/Calibration Laboratories accreditation program and requirements

  • Working knowledge of measurement of uncertainty budgets and calculation estimates

NOTE: This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services. U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, protected person status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), or U.S. Government export authorization is required.
