Kforce Quality Chain Engineer in Warren, Michigan

Kforce's Metro Detroit automotive client is looking for a Quality Chain Engineer for a long-term, renewable contract position in Warren, Michigan (MI).Summary:The ideal candidate will be responsible for coaching/leading standard Quality Chain execution within cross functional Product Development Teams (PDTs) under the assigned Core PDT(s); This includes: Robustness Plan DFSS project planning/execution/tracking; execution of Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA); DFMEA roll-down and PFMEA connectivity; ICD planning/execution; KCDS strategy execution; connected Process Control plan development; and other Quality Chain activities as required. Work with BOM Family Owners (BFO), Design Engineers, Quality Reliability Durability leads and others in developing problem prevention plans to exceed Customer Expectations. You will act as the Voice of the Customer within the Core PDT.Essential Functions:

  • Lead the evaluation of product program content for risks to future product quality in terms of initial quality, customer satisfaction, and long-term reliability and support cross functional mitigation plan development

  • Have a good understanding of Quality Chain Framework and apply the knowledge effectively to capture systemic lessons when things go wrong (i.e. Warranty, PRD/PAL/Field Actions)

  • Coach/mentor DREs with application of Quality Chain linkages/connectives across the GVDP

  • Support BFOs/GSSLTs in development and maintenance of baseline Quality Chain Work Elements (ICDs, KCDS, FMEAs)

  • Participate in Prevent Repeat Defect (PRD) process to institutionalize lessons learned from defects

  • Work with Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality, Validation, AVDC, Suppliers as required to drive Defect Free Execution focus across all Quality Chain Phases (Requirements/Standards, Core Execution and Validation/Certification)

  • Support DFMEA execution in the design of product/process and DRE action plan development

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience required; Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred

  • Experience facilitating Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) projects

  • Background in Product Development: (Validation, Reliability Engineering, Quality Tools, Design Release Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering, etc.)

  • Familiar with web collaboration tools (WebEx and Share-point)

  • Understanding of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint computer applications

  • Strong interpersonal skills, high level of oral and written communication skills

  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult

  • Good project management and team facilitation skills


  • Experience facilitating Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), or Design Review Based on Failure Modes (DRBFM)

  • DFSS Black Belt certification

  • ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer, Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Manager of Quality

  • Understanding of and ability to use data systems and tools

  • Assembly plant experience

  • Supply base experience

  • Understanding of Product Development Process and Quality processes

  • Familiar with Quality Chain Framework
