We are researching and developing advanced power electronics components and energy systems for use in electric and autonomous vehicles.Who You areIn this role, you will develop embedded controls for high power density, high temperature power electronic components for electric drive and energy storage systems, provide advanced control solutions and analysis for future products, and rapidly prototype and validate simulation tools and modeling of design concepts. In addition, you will also:* Conduct experimental testing and evaluation of new concepts* Document work in research reports, external publications, and records of invention* Interact closely with divisional staffs and development partners to meet project objectives* Participate in technical discussions and reviews as a technical professional* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry and technical developments affecting areas of responsibility* Develop simulation tools and models for rapid prototyping and validation of design conceptsAdditional Job DescriptionWhat You Need* Advanced Degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or other relevant area of focus* Hands-on hardware experience in power converter (AC/DC, DC/DC DC/AC) design* Strong understanding of power electronics topologies* Experience with high voltage power semiconductor selection (Si/SiC/GaN MOSFET's, Diodes), gate driver and protection circuit design* Understanding of switching waveforms, semi-conductor losses and experience with loss modeling* Proven understanding of the theory and application of magnetics (inductors, transformers) and capacitors (electrolytic, film and ceramic) used for power conversion* Experience in the design of analog and digital circuits* Experience in micro-processor, DSP, and FPGA control of power electronics* Familiar with schematic capture and power converter circuit simulation tools* Experience in PCB layout for minimal stray inductance and capacitance, placement strategies for better manufacturability, power/signal plane definition and EMC optimization* Proficiency with basic EE tools (oscilloscopes, network analyzers, signal generators etc.)* Theoretical knowledge of controls relevant to power electronicsWhat Would Be Even Better* PhD in Electrical Engineering with strong background in controls* Post Doc research experience an
