And we are proud to support our employees volunteer interests, and make it a priority to join together in efforts that give back to our communities.Job DescriptionProvide Technical Leadership to a team of CAE Engineers to perform CAE integration development and complete virtual review deliverables for all requirements. Provide technical leadership to the work team to develop vehicles to requirements and targets using the latest CAE methods and standard work. Ensure consistent CAE approaches are used across all programs. Manage variable work load from planned math synchs, non-synch requests, safety investigations, and optimization requests using assigned resources and available resources. Interact and collaborate closely with the Performance team and other CAE, SMT and integration teams cross functionally.The Automotive Aerodynamics CFD Engineer will build, run, and interpret results from various Aerodynamics models for NASCAR applications.The engineer will join and lead a multi-disciplined team of engineers who perform airflow simulations of varying complexity and aid in the development of new tools and process automation for NASCAR specific applications.Key elements of the job are:* Estimate drag, lift and other aerodynamic deliverables* Evaluate automobile exterior with focus on aerodynamics* Pro-actively develop simulations for NASCAR* Clearly post process and interpret simulation results to identify current performance and develop areas of improvements* Integrate and balance requirements with front end cooling air flow and brake cooling using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models.* Interface and collaborate with Chevy Advanced Aero Group and NASCAR Teams in North Carolina* Present numerical and visual data and recommendations effectively, deep dive the flow field and be able understand and explain the physics behind the flow behavior.* Expand our understanding of ground interactions, tire models and tire wakes.* Conduct parametric studies.* Daily use of several commercial CFD codes, 1D solvers and supporting software in Windows, LINUX/UNIX and HPC environment. These include ANSA, STAR-CCM+, EXA-POWERFLOW and other Internal Codes.Required Qualifications:* A Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering with coursework in Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer and Fluid Mechanics* Experience with computer tools, 3D CAD files, CAE methods and Experimental Data* 10+ years' of professional motorsports experience - NASCAR or F1* Proficiency in project management with strong leadership skills* Hands on experience correlating CFD to wind tunnel results* CFD tools and methods development* Ability to travel up to 20%* Ability to operate a motor vehicle* Expertise on the following commercial CFD codes : N-S based codes such as Star CCM+ and OpenFOAM, and LB based codes such as UltrafluidX and PowerFLOW.* Expertise using 1D solvers and supporting s
