Our newly established Model Based Design (MBD) team is now developing and maintaining complex end-to-end software systems including embedded, cloud, web, and mobile subsystems. In addition, the Otis software portfolio includes safety critical applications with rigorous verification, validation and certification requirements.

As a MBD Test Engineer, you will be a pioneer in the development of tools and processes as well as testing applications that control various elevator systems. As a model-based design test engineer, you will be developing tools to assist in developing algorithms as well as testing templates, scripts, and guidelines for verification and validation of control features and diagnostics used to keep Otis at the forefront of technology in the marketplace.

Responsibilities:

• Work with model-based design algorithm engineers and software engineers to ensure their algorithms are robust, understandable, and testable

• Develop and generate test software using MBD tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink) that:

• Verify the required features and functional content

• Ensure compliance to safety requirements, regulatory requirements, local building codes, and internal company policy

• Develop test automation procedures at the function/model level (MiL/SiL/HiL testing) and at the system (“black box”) level

• Define and maintain test systems used for HiL testing

• Support the development of Standard Work

Qualifications (required):

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

• Minimum 5 years post graduate experience working as a software or test engineer

• Experience writing function and performance tests using MATLAB and/or C/C++

• Must be highly motivated, a self-starter, agile thinker, who is excels at working collaboratively in a team environment

• Experience with test automation software (e.g. LabVIEW, VeriStand, TestStand, MATLAB Unit Test, Simulink Test Manager)

• Highly effective communicator

Qualifications (preferred):

• MS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science preferred

• Experience working with rapid control prototyping systems (e.g. dSPACE MicroAutoBox)

• Experience using a hardware-in-the-loop system for system verification and validation

• Familiar with and experience working with ICE 61508 or ISO 26262 standards

• Experience working on Agile teams
