Aerotek Emissions Technician in Wixom, Michigan
Description:
Specific Responsibilities:
Stage vehicles to and from test sites
Set up of vehicles on dynamometers such as: Chocking wheels in place, Connecting vehicle exhaust to collection systems, connecting various instrumentation
Input data into test equipment computers
Drive test vehicle in a prescribed manner
Conduct various pre/post vehicle conditioning such as fuel changes and other activities
Knowledge of basic automotive systems desired
Able to proficiently drive a manual transmission
Intermediate computer skills
Available for any shift including weekends
Performs EPA and CARB chassis emissions test sequences in compliance with regulations
Determines proper vehicle and equipment setup given test objectives-
Provides consultations to others requesting input and assists in developing work instructions-
Provides technical support and leadership
Runs all and provides expertise with many special tests
Expertly drives demanding test sequences, and vehicles- Detects and reports subtle and trend type malfunctions
Determines and plans project/ task assignments given objectives- Records and reports data and pertinent observations completely, accurately and neatly, assembling and distributing the data
Works with minimal supervision or technical direction- Interacts with all in a positive and professional manner, helping to create a cooperative and constructive approach to problem solving, decision-making and planning
2 years experience. (Educational degrees and/or training may reduce the length of relevant work experience required.)
Experience in automotive, emissions lab testing, or electronics troubleshooting highly preferred
Technical Training beyond high school or equivalent experience.
Be able to carry out specifically outlined job assignments with some supervision.
Be able to describe work accomplishments or concerns through effective verbal and written communications.
Be able to interact smoothly with other workers at several levels
Associates Degree in Automotive applications, Electronics, or other technical area; If no degree, must have significant relevant experience to be considered

Work Site Description:
Preferred Work Schedule: Must be available to work any shift. However, once selected, candidates will be assigned to and shift.
Physical Required: DOT Required
Is Driving a GM Vehicle required, or will the worker be driving a GM vehicle more than occasionally (a few times per month) as part of the job function? Yes - Candidates must be 21 years of age or older
