Chemical Lab Technician II _ Wyandotte, MI

Kelly Services is currently seeking a Chemical Lab Technician II for one of our top clients in Wyandotte, MI.

Pay Rate: $21.00

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (days -- start/end times slightly flexible)

Duration: 12 months

As a Chemical Lab Technician II placed with Kelly Services you will be responsible for performing routine, semi-routine, and/or moderately complex physical analyses rigid and flexible foams supporting the automotive, construction, consumer and industrial markets. This is a fast-paced, aggressive, customer-service environment; with variable demands.

  • Responsible for monitoring chemical processes and testing products as part of quality assurance.

  • Chemistry Lab Technicians II assist chemists in their lab work.

  • As time progresses, Chemical Lab Technicians are completing a greater number of tasks that previously would have been performed by highly trained chemists.

  • Under the supervision of chemists and other team members, Chemical Lab Technicians perform repetitive lab activities, such as setting up lab equipment and preparing chemical solutions. They also conduct tests, interpret and analyze data, compile results, prepare reports, and present their conclusions.

  • Managing on-site customer requests, via database system or personally, with internal customer.

  • Preparing foam samples for specified testing

  • Adhering to safety regulations associated with chemical operations, working in compliance with all EHS standards

  • Communicating effectively with service team and customers

  • Completing (extensive) initial and ongoing on-the-job training as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates Degree required; Bachelor’s degree in Physics or Material Science preferred

  • 2 years of Chemical Industrial experience

  • Background in science preferable physics or material science preferred

  • Candidate must be comfortable using power tools (previous experience preferred). Ability to work with hand and power tools daily including a band saw and a die press; with proper respect for the inherent hazards and strict adherence to PPE or other safety requirements.

  • Working collaboratively with a team of co-workers to complete testing requests

  • Candidate must be organized and keep track of multiple activities.

  • Candidate must be able to follow detailed procedures.

  • Experience running ASTM methods is preferred.

  • Must be able to lift a maximum of 50 pounds occasionally.

  • An inquisitive attitude and deep respect for good quality control practices along with adherence to ISO 9001 standards.

  • Attention to detail to ensure specified testing equipment and methods are used.
