Research Laboratory Technician – Wyandotte, MI
Primary responsibility for this position is to safely conduct new product development and applications experiments under the direction of the scientists in the team.
Responsibilities will include:
Safely synthesize new polymer products and characterize the polymers
Document all work in the laboratory notebook. Generate and collect data and results from laboratory evaluations using a variety of computer software systems. Compile and interpret data and issue reports as required.
Set up, calibrate, operate and maintain various pieces of laboratory and test equipment
Set up and maintain a safe, efficient laboratory work place using MOC process. Adhere to company procedures and work instructions and industrial standards regarding sampling and testing techniques and proper handling and preparation of samples in support of company’s EHS objectives. Write and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOP); maintain and constantly improve testing procedures in a safe environment.
Generate new ideas that improve the safety, efficiency and overall effectiveness of the laboratory. Proactively establish and maintain a safe and healthy work environment and comply with company policies and procedures
Develop the necessary knowledge of the equipment and procedures to provide expertise to internal and external customers.
Maintain raw material storage and inventory
Prepare, package and ship samples
Make lab scale foam
Make data entry into SAP system
Using statistical and digital tools such as DOE, electronic lab notebooks or similar

Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline
1 year of experience in a laboratory setting
1 year of experience with MS Word and MS Excel
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material Science
Small molecule or polymer synthesis experience
Experience with pressurized reactors
Experience working with polymer chemistry testing and/or research
